Valor Mortis was always an interesting title – a first-person Soulslike with awesome parkour mechanics underpinning a dark, gritty world William must explore at his own peril.
It’s an interesting world that’s based on the Napoleonic Wars, but with twists and turns that make it unique. The opening cinematic confirms that actions matter more than words in your destiny, as reinforced by the gameplay loop. We found its straightforward storytelling and first-person perspective quite refreshing when we reviewed it, and we can’t wait to hear what the rest of you think once you’re able to dive in and get a feel for what the world’s like.
Of course, that dynamic 4K resolution and generous framerates on consoles are going to help with that, but we can tell you that this is a game that doesn’t just rely on looks and style. The cinematic is below, in case you can’t wait to look at how the adventure begins before you dive in and start carving a path through its many memorable threats while sorting through its many mysteries.
Valor Mortis is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. And if you can’t get enough of what it has to offer, a major story DLC launches in 2027.
