The developer already has a busy year ahead with The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, and more.

If any developer is having a busy year, it’s Falcom of The Legend of Heroes and Ys fame. On top of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 launching next month, it’s also releasing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter worldwide this Fall. Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga, a port of its crossover fighter, and Ys 10: Proud Nordics, an enhanced version of Ys 10: Nordics, are also inbound.

However, additional titles are in development for the Trails and Ys franchises, codenamed Title H and Title in Falcom’s latest financial report. Release dates for either have yet to be determined. If that wasn’t enough, an unannounced PS5 port is in the works.

Of course, the studio also has a new Tokyo Xanadu project in development, which could be revealed this year. Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, check out details on Trails through Daybreak 2. It’s out on February 14th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The recently-announced Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will soon be joined by two additional re-releases of older titles.

Nihol Falcom has made a couple of pretty major announcements of late, having announced not only the next mainline Ys title with Ys 10: Nordics, but also a Nintendo Switch remaster of an older entry in the series with Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana. And as it turns out, the latter isn’t going to be the only opportunity to jump back into one of the developer’s older offerings in the near future.

Speaking recently with Weekly Famitsu (via Ryokutya), president Toshihiro Kondo confirmed that including the aforementioned The Oath in Felghana, the company has three remasters/re-releases scheduled to release. While he didn’t give a specific timeframe as to when these games might be out, as Gematsu points out, the company has previously said that it intends to release three remasters for the Nintendo Switch by September 30, 2023. Of course, what these games will end up being isn’t something that’s yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Kondo also confirmed that Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will run at 60 FPS on the Nintendo Switch and feature several balance adjustments.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is set to launch in Japan for the Switch in Spring 2023, with Ys 10: Nordics arriving for PS5, PS4, and Switch in the same year. A Western release is yet to be confirmed for both games. Several details were also recently on the upcoming Ys 10: Nordic’s more action-heavy combat and new combat mechanics.

Falcom will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year with "multiple" releases.

Though it recently released The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki in Japan, Falcom is already planning for the next big release. In its latest financial report, the developer revealed that next year marks its 40th anniversary and it would release “multiple titles” for consoles to celebrate. One of those includes a new Trails title (which could possibly use the company’s new engine).

Falcom is also looking to “expand” its content to multiple platforms worldwide like PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and smartphones. It also discussed utilizing its in-house IP to create new games alongside the Trails and Ys franchises. Whether this means a new title in the Xanadu series or an off-shoot of Trails and Ys remains to be seen.

Outside of Japan and Asia, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 recently released for PS4 with NISA as its publisher. It will also be coming to PC and Nintendo Switch in 2021. For more details on how it fares, check out our review here. Stay tuned for more details on future titles, especially when Hajimari no Kiseki will be localized.

All good things come to those who wait.

Man, with all of this hype, the PlayStation Experience Event that Sony has planned for early December better be worth it.

At this point, we already know the developers who will be participating in the event. We know some of the games they plan on showing off. These games range from first party to third party, indie to AAA, western to Japanese, and cover the full range of genres. Now, an insider is adding fuel to the fire of the hype, and telling us that PlayStation 4 JRPG will also be present at the event.

Industry insider Tidux has been known to make at least some correct assessments in the past, and, relating to JRPGs and the PlayStation Experience, he said, rather cryptically, ‘All good things come to he who waits.’

Of course, this could mean any number of things- we might be getting a better look at any one of the multitude of JRPGs already announced for the system (Final Fantasy XV, Ys, Kingdom Hearts 3, Persona 5); then again, we might just be seeing something altogether new. What could it possibly be? Would it be the revival of an old franchise, or an altogether new one? Could we, perhaps, be seeing the triumphant return of Dragon Quest to PlayStation with Dragon Quest XI announced for PS4?

We’ll see. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for all coverage.

It's probably Ys-ey to guess what.

Falcom is working on a secret PlayStation 4 title, Siliconera reports.

In addition to the sequel to Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky that they are working on, Falcom is also discussing a new PlayStation 4 title that it anticipates will release in 2014 some time, judging by the comments they made regarding the studio’s future plans.

Falcom is the studio behind the Ys series, which just got a brand new release on PlayStation Vita- the rather excellent Ys: Memories of Celceta. The new title might just be a brand new game in the series (or a remake of a previous game in it), although it would be quite a jump for the studio, since the last mainline game in the franchise was released on PSP (Memories of Celceta is a remake of an SNES game).

Whatever it is, judging by the general quality of the studio’s output, it is bound to be great. Stay tuned for further coverage.
