Bandai Namco’s Tales franchise has been a big name in the RPG genre for a long time, so calling it “low budget” wouldn’t be accurate in the slightest. But the upcoming Tales of Arise decidedly does seem to be high budget- and in more ways than one. From its visual overhaul to its new combat system to its larger scope, it’s definitely aiming to be a grander experience than its predecessors- and that translates to its storytelling as well.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Tales of Arise producer Yusuke Tomizawa revealed that the game has “the longest volume of cutscenes in the history of the series.” Hopefully, with a focus on 3D character models this time, improved facial animations, and the cutscenes being directed in an anime-esque style, the quality of cutscenes should be better than what has been the case in past Tales games.
Tales of Arise is out on September 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will feature 4K and 60 FPS modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and will also support free next-gen upgrades. Read more on that through here.
