Re-Logic’s final update for Terraria, Journey’s End, is on the horizon and will be absolutely massive. Along with all the new items being added and tModLoader as free DLC for mod support, it also has Journey Mode. It can be thought of somewhat as a creative mode with lots of customization available.
First off, Journey Mode characters can only be used in the same worlds – you can’t bring other characters into Journey Mode and vice versa. It’s possible to adjust the difficulty while actually in the world so enemies can be removed completely or buffed to Master Mode level difficulty. You can also increase their spawn rate which, while playing with others, will only affect enemies spawning around you.
The good news is that Journey Mode also offers plenty of ways to make life easier for players, if not offer a quicker start altogether. Research and Duplication will allow for duplicating unlimited amounts of a particular item after it’s been acquired enough times. That means that after acquiring 100 wood, you can research and duplicate it infinitely without ever having to scavenge for more.
Journey Mode also lets you enable God Mode for complete invulnerability, change the time of day, increase the passage of time or stop it completely, disable Infection and even access an “advanced starter gear package.” This includes an Iron Shortsword, Axe, Pickaxe and Hammer, a Finch Staff for a bird companion, Starter Wings for limited flight and no fall damage, 100 Torches and much more. It helps to get into the action that much faster.
Terraria: Journey’s End is out on May 16th for PC and will release for consoles later.
