The Bard’s Tale 4: Director’s Cut is Now Available

inXile's poorly received dungeon crawler receives a massive update.

When inXile Entertainment first launched The Bard’s Tale 4: Barrows Deep, it was pretty rough and not altogether good. Thankfully, the developer has been working hard on the Director’s Cut, which is available now, with a variety of changes and new content. Check out the release trailer below to see for yourself.

Along with new content like the Royal Necropolis of Haernhold, the Director’s Cut brings a lot of different fixes and quality of life improvements. You can now save anywhere, character creation has been significantly expanded upon, performance is better, and you can use a special song to skip the mandatory puzzles. There’s also a Legacy Mode for veteran players.

If you already own the base game, then there’s even better news – the Director’s Cut will be a free update for you. For everyone else, The Bard’s Tale 4: Director’s Cut is currently $35 on Steam and GOG. You can pick it up for $40 on Xbox One, but it’s also included with Xbox Game Pass, which costs $4.99 per month.
