The Crew Motorfest has always been an interesting title for us. It’s clearly inspired by Forza Horizon, bringing a gorgeous open world and a lot to do in it to the table, just like Playground Games has done with successive iterations of its popular arcade racer.
We loved how it looked and played back when we reviewed it nearly three years ago, although we did find its NPC chatter to be more of an annoyance than an immersive facet of the experience, while the progression mechanics were among the things we disliked. But things have gone pretty well for Ubisoft’s take on an arcade racing title, and it even gave the game some new content earlier this year.
Well, it seems that all of that effort has paid off, since Ubisoft took to Instagram to celebrate the title reaching 10 million players, a feat that must be commended for any game. It’s especially welcome considering the company’s troubles in recent times, and should serve as a nice milestone for the publisher ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced next month.
We can’t say we expected this one to go this far, but we did say that it was a worthy sibling to the Forza Horizon franchise thanks to how well it handled the most important aspects of an open-world racing title. Well, we’d like to tip our hat to Ubisoft on this occasion, and hope that the embattled studio can find a way to achieve more of these milestones in the future.
