Ubisoft’s The Division has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. After a troubled launch for the first game, impressive post-launch support turned it into a solid experience, while The Division 2 managed to have great launch right off the bat, with the promise of more new content coming in in the future (with the first DLC episode launching later this month).
But what lies ahead for the series as whole? The Division is, first a foremost, a co-op multiplayer experience, but is this also a series that has room for perhaps a single player story-focused spinoff? Julian Gerighty of Massive Entertainment, creative director of The Division 2, might be hinting at such a possibility. Gerighty recently took to Twitter, asking people for their thoughts proposed by Tim Spencer of TT Games, who thinks that a single player The Division spinoff might not be such a bad idea. In a follow up tweet, looking at the responses he got, Gerighty noted that people seem to like the idea as well.
The Division and The Division 2 both already had excellent campaigns, with the latter especially having a meaty main campaign that could even be enjoyed by those wanting to play solo, so a single player The Division spinoff actually sounds like a great idea. Of course, Gerighty’s tweets don’t mean anything right now, and might not amount to anything at all- but it’s good to know that it’s something he’s given at least some thought to.
