The Division To Launch With Eye Tracking Functionality

Ubisoft adding support for some more esoteric technology into the game.

Ubisoft’s The Division will become one of the first high profile AAA games to have support for eye tracking when it launches on March 9- Ubisoft today announced in partnership with eye tracking technology developer Tobii that the PC version of The Division will ship with support for eye tracking at launch.

As long as you own a compatible sensor – such as Tobii’s EyeX or the SteelSeries Sentry Eye Tracker – the game will be able to track your eyes, and activate a number of eye tracking specific features, such as HUD elements like the mini-map turning opaque and fading into the background when players aren’t looking directly at them.

This makes The Division the first high profile game to incorporate eye tracking technology, but it certainly won’t be the last one- Gamespot reports that Tobii claimed that as many as a hundred games could be compatible with the technology by the end of the year. On Ubisoft’s part, they will be updating Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to be compatible with the tech, in addition to The Division already being compatible with it, of course.

The Division launches on March 9 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
