The Evil Within 2 Will Allow For Greater Player Freedom, Bethesda Confirms

A nightmare that is very uniquely and specifically yours.

October will be a big month for Bethesda fans, because in addition to Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, they will also be launching The Evil Within 2, the Shinji Mikami helmed sequel to his 2014 flawed horror game hit.

The upcoming game seeks to expand on the strengths of the original- one of the ways that it will do so, apparently, will be by allowing for greater freedom for the players. Speaking in a Bethesda blog post, Game Director John Johanas confirmed that the game, through its layout, customization, and crafting options, will offer greater freedom to players to tailor the experience of playing the game to their liking.

“The world of The Evil Within 2 is full of possibilities,” said Game Director John Johanas in the update. “With some of the larger stages we’ve created, we’re opening Union up to the players’ wishes and unique playstyles. Through the layout of the world, as well as the crafting and customization systems in the game, we’re providing you with the freedom to take on the challenges in front of you however you choose.”

By customizing not just the build of your character, but also the specific kinds of weapons you have, in addition to also having leeway in how you progress through the game, you will be able to have an experience that is uniquely yours. It sounds like, much like Bethesda Game Studios games,  The Evil Within 2 will be all about enabling player agency when it launches on Friday the 13th of October for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
