The Last of Us on PS3 Sells 7 Million Units Worldwide

Less than two weeks before the remastered edition releases for PS4.

Naughty Dog is preparing The Last of Us: Remastered for PlayStation 4, which will be an updated version of its hit PS3 title with improved graphics and additional content, but the original has been just fine on its own. Despite Sony stating that a large number of PS4 players haven’t experienced The Last of Us on PS3, the game has sold 7 million units worldwide.

This is according to a tweet from Meristation editor Javi Andres who said, “The Last of Us has sold 200,000 copies in Spain and Portugal. The exclusive Sony IP quickly sold 7 million worldwide.” The figure was actually announced by Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer in recent presentation attended by IGN Spain.

Does this justify releasing an HD remake, especially with the original still selling so well? That remains the constant debate, but hopefully The Last of Us: Remastered will have enough of its own content to stand tall. It will be out on July 29th for PS4.
