2020’s looking like a packed year, but even in this dense crowd, The Last of Us Part 2 stands out as one of the most highly anticipated upcoming releases. With just a few short months left until its release, excitement surrounding the game is ramping up. Recently, developers Naughty Dog shared an update on production.
In a message where they announced that they’d be bringing an hour-long playable demo of The Last of Us Part 2 to PAX East later this month, they also shared that the game had entered its final legs of development, and that Naughty Dog are now putting the final touches on the game in the lead up to its launch.
“We are thrilled to say that we’ve entered the final stretch of production and are putting the finishing touches on The Last of Us Part II as you read this,” wrote the developer. “The end of development puts us one very large step closer to launch. We know all of you have been so patient over the last few years, so it’s been thrilling to see our game taking on its final shape and knowing that means it will be in your hands soon.”
Hopefully this means there will be no more delays.
The Last of Us Part 2 is due out on May 29, exclusively for the PS4. The ESRB recently handed the game its age rating, and it looks like it’s going to be Naughty Dog’s most mature game to date.
