The Last of Us Part 2 Trailer Was Running On Updated Naughty Dog Engine

I have full faith in Naughty Dog.

It has actually happened. The rumors were all true, and The Last of Us Part 2 is a real thing, announced today at the end of the PlayStation Experience keynote. The game looks absolutely gorgeous (as all Naughty Dog games are wont to do), and the premise, which features a grown up Ellie and a far older Joel, seems to be just unsettling enough.

And what will be powering this game, the sequel to one of the greatest games ever made? According to Shawn Layden, this will be using an updated version of the Uncharted 4 engine. Given how gorgeous Uncharted 4 was, while at the same time allowing for more open environments, that bodes well for The Last of Us Part 2, as well.

While the footage we got to see was probably in engine, it was not real time gameplay. But none of that is likely to matter, however, because The Last of Us Part 2 will probably end up going down as one of the best, and one of the most technically impressive, games ever made anyway. I have full faith in Naughty Dog.
