The Last Of Us Part 2 Was Worked On By Over 2,000 Developers

That also consists of 13 outsourcing studios.

Much like the first game, The Last of Us Part 2 will cap off its respective generation being something of a technical marvel. From the incredible graphics to the insane level of details that 90% of players probably won’t ever notice, it is really a technical feat to behold. And what kind of work goes into something of this level? Well, a helluva lot, that much is for sure.

As compiled by MobyGames, the game’s extensive credits list shows just how many people worked on the game. Overall, over 2,000 developers worked on the title in some capacity (2,169 to be exact). And that also includes having 13 outsourcing companies being brought in. So, if you’re ever wondering how much work has to go into these things, there you go.

It’s definitely a huge production, though not unheard of. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, for instance, had almost 8,000 developers listed in its credits. And it’s worth keeping in mind that not every developer was working on it for the entire 4-5 year development cycle. A good chunk of these people probably had a single job, finished, and then moved on, especially on the outsourcing side. Still, it’s an incredible amount of manpower to manage for any project.

The game enjoyed the largest launch of 2020 in the US, so most likely it was quite a success for everyone involved, I imagine. The game is now available only on the PlayStation 4.
