Gustavo Santaolalla hasn’t worked on a video game before. He has won not one but two Academy Awards for Best Original Score for his work on Brokeback Mountain in 2006 and Babel in 2007. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us marks the composer’s first time working on a project like this, and as far as we can tell (or hear), he’s captured the essence of the game’s atmosphere well.
In a new video, Santaolalla talks about his experience working on The Last of Us. Sony also announced that the soundtrack will be on Music Unlimited, the company’s online streaming service in the next few weeks. Given that The Last of Us will be releasing exclusively on PS3 on June 14th, we expect to be hearing it around that time.
Meanwhile, check out our preview for The Last of Us to get a taste of just how good the game is, even in its demo state.
