An abridged version of The Pokemon Company’s financial results for the fiscal year ending February 28th, 2022 has been revealed. As per a filing by the Japanese government’s gazette Kanpō (via Gamebiz.jp), the company had ¥204 billion ($1.6 billion) in sales and ¥41 billion ($322 million) in net profit. As per Kantan Games CEO and analyst Dr. Serkan Toto, this marked a “record financial year.”
Overall, net profit is up by 123 percent year-on-year thanks to a number of high-profile titles like New Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus releasing in the 12 month period. Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which was released in January 2022, sold 6.5 million copies in its first week and 12.64 million as of March 31st, 2022.
Meanwhile, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sold six million units in their first week with 14.65 million sold by March end. With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet releasing in late 2022, the coming fiscal year may prove even more lucrative for the company.
