In its latest Community Update video for The Rogue Prince of Persia, Evil Empire outlined traversal and how players could get around the rogue-lite’s many levels. However, combat is the other part of the equation, and there’s plenty to keep players occupied.
As noted before, The Prince can choose from several Primary Weapons (though only carrying one at a time), including swords, twin daggers, throwing weapons and more. While each has different combos, they also have special attacks. The Broadsword, for example, can launch enemies into the air. You also have tools like the bow and chakram that require charges (replenished by striking enemies).
The Prince’s kick is vital because it stuns enemies when they hit walls and sends them into environmental hazards. However, it can also break the shields of armored enemies, stunning both in the process. The dive is also essential, as it can easily shatter shields.
You can also discover Medallions on your journey and equip up to four at a time. Like the Talismans from Dead Cells, they provide various passive effects, like releasing a poison cloud when wounded, setting fire to an area when killing a marked enemy, and adding HP whenever you discover a new Well of Dreams.
Medallions upgrade each other based on where they’re slotted, and enhanced weapons can also trigger their effects. Evil Empire will add more weapons, tools and Medallions as early access progresses.
The Rogue Prince of Persia launches on May 14th for PC via Steam Early Access.
