The rogue-lite title's story involves the Huns invading the Prince's kingdom, seemingly due to the latter recklessly goading them.
Developed by Dead Cells' team Evil Empire, the rogue-lite action platformer sees the Prince questing to save Persia from an invading army.
The roguelite title will be announced at the Triple-i Initiative showcase on April 10, it's been claimed.
Allegedly titled The Rogue Prince of Persia, it will hit Steam early access sometime later this year, it's claimed.
The showcase has been described as having "back-to-back trailers" with no hosts or sponsorships.
"The official statement is total marketing bulls***, the way this situation happened is on a whole different level," says former Motion Twin co-founder Sébastien Benard.
Developer Evil Empire will move on to "new adventures." Meanwhile, Update 35, "The End is Near," doesn't have a launch date yet.
Dead Cells is getting adapted into a 10-episode animated series by the studio that worked on the game's animated trailers.
Evil Empire is "exploring the path forward for the title as a whole" and looking at "new ways for fans to enjoy one of their favorite roguelikes."
