Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is among the titles we’re pretty eager to play when it finally launches on October 15. If you were a tad disappointed about not being able to play on the Switch, that’s now a thing of the past, as it will be available for the last-gen console on the same date as Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders for the digital version go live at a later date, however.
Developed by Evil Empire of Dead Cells fame, this one’s bringing Rose, a new Belmont, to 1499 Paris, where she’s hunting “The Fallen”, a being that will doubtless sound suspiciously familiar to many of those who’ve dived deep into the franchise’s lore. Of course, Death and Carmilla have already been confirmed as bosses, and they’re sure to present some challenges.
All that fighting is made even sweeter by a Metroidvania-esque gameplay loop backed by improved mobility using the Vampire Killer. And while Trevor Belmont appears at some point, this could mark a potential new beginning for the franchise.
There’s definitely a lot to like for both newcomers and veterans in this one, and its gorgeous visuals and art style really bring its grim and gritty world to life. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for more gameplay and details ahead of October.
