The Rogue Prince of Persia Video Outlines Traversal Mechanics and Acrobatics

Leap over hazards, wall-run horizontally and vertically, and dash to vault over enemies in the upcoming action rogue-lite.

Evil Empire’s The Rogue Prince of Persia enters early access on May 14th, so before that, it’s providing more details in various Community Update videos. This week, it delves into Traversal and Combat, the former consisting of wall runs, jumps and more. Check it out below.

Traversal has a sense of flow, with players seamlessly navigating environments. The Prince can leap across gaps, slide down ramps and wall-run, but here’s where it gets interesting. You can wall-run horizontally, upwards and even diagonally, yet venturing downwards isn’t possible (though you can run directly up walls). Certain areas will require leaping onto poles to scout where to go next.

Of course, The Prince can also swing from poles, showcasing his impressive acrobatic skill. There’s also dashing – if close to an enemy, you’ll vault over them to face their back, a la The Sands of Time. Also worth noting is that when falling great distances, you can slow your descent using a knife (provided one is equipped).

The Rogue Prince of Persia will be playable on PC via Steam Early Access at launch and include the first Act, six levels, two bosses and multiple weapons. Stay tuned for more details before it goes live and check out some more gameplay here.
