Ubisoft released a compelling side-scroller earlier this year with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but it’s going in a completely different direction with The Rogue Prince of Persia. Developed by Dead Cells team Evil Empire, the rogue-lite title recently received some extensive new gameplay courtesy of Game Informer. Check it out below.

Like the Beheaded in Dead Cells, the Prince can use multi-combo attacks, dodge and stomp on the ground from a high enough point. Some additions include kicking enemies into walls or traps and holding down the attack button for a powerful special attack to strike multiple enemies in a line. Players will discover multiple weapons and sub-weapons from chests or vendors, from sabers to bows and grappling hooks.

The platforming is also similar to previous entries in the franchise (even though its lore is separate). You can wall-jump, wall-run, leap off poles, slide down inclined surfaces and more, evading environmental hazards and whatnot. A boss fight caps off the end, with a hulking minotaur-like being charging and headbutting The Prince back to a previous checkpoint.

The Rogue Prince of Persia launches on May 14th for PC. It will be available as an early access title with new levels, weapons, bosses, and story content released over subsequent updates. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
