The Witcher 3 was originally meant to launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with all the expected upgrades earlier this year, but when CD Projekt RED announced that the current-gen versions had been pushed back, with development being moved in-house, many feared that maybe it was much farther away than they’d previously imagined.
Of course, the developer quickly provided assurances that the delay was relatively short one, before confirming that the open world action RPG would be out for current-gen consoles in the later months of this year. Now, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3 is still on track for its PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch in Q4 2022.
“In the fourth quarter of 2022 the Company also plans to release an updated edition of The Witcher 3, taking advantage of the capabilities of next-generation consoles,” the company wrote in a recent fiscal report of the first half of the year.
So there you go. If you’ve been looking forward to revisiting The Witcher 3 on more powerful hardware with better visuals and technical features, it looks like the wait isn’t going to be a very long one. Hopefully, a more specific release date will be announced in the coming weeks.
In the same report, CD Projekt RED also confirmed that it has begun simultaneous development on two upcoming AAA games (one of which is the next Witcher game, of course).
