Titanfall 2 has been announced, and we’re expecting a full unveil at E3 this year. But a release date for the game isn’t yet confirmed- while we’re expecting it to launch this year, that release date could pose problems, especially given that EA’s own Battlefield 5 is also rumored to launch by this year’s end. That would be stupid, then, it would lead to cannibalization.
So a 2016 release date for the game doesn’t make much sense, then- but 2016 is when leading UK retailer of video game hardware and software GAME believes it will be out regardless, VideoGamer reports. The retailer lists a TBC-2016 date for the game, implying it may be due out this year- though of course, they, too, could be guessing, and this could just be a placeholder date.
That said, there are indications that Titanfall 2 will be launching this year after all, including statements made to that effect by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen and Respawn CEO Vince Zampella. Of course, this could easily mean that Battlefield 5 won’t be launching this year- EA won’t want to crowd their own shooter lineup like that, would they?
