Titanfall Multiplayer and Game Creation Detailed

Producer Drew McCoy talks about fusing multiplayer with single-player.

In the span of a few months, Titanfall ascended from being relatively unknown to one of the most hotly anticipated titles in years – even if it is exclusive to the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC for the time being.

In a new video interview, producer Drew McCoy talked about the multiplayer and how it mixes with the single-player aspect of the game. “In campaign multiplayer, you will have something that introduces you to the level in the story, of what’s happening. And then while you’re playing, there will be stuff happening around you that’s just…it’s part of the story. In the Angel City level, there’s an epilogue at the end where the losing team has to escape on a drop-ship and the winning team has to try and eliminate them. So the victor has already been decided but it’s somewhat of a bonus round.”

McCoy also talked about the inspiration for the Titans and how they were motion-captured, rather than animated as machines. What kind of bonuses can you gain by finishing the bonus round? That remains to be seen when Titanfall lands in Spring 2014.
