Titanfall Multiplayer Capped at 12 Players, Titans for Everyone

Vince Zampella says it's all about what's most fun.

Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella released some new information regarding Titanfall and this may be the first bit of info to actually sharply divide players.

Zampella confirmed that multiplayer will be capped at 12 players, with teams being 6 vs. 6 players. “6v6 is max player count. Turned out to be the best balance with AI for us.” Zampella further added the that count only includes humans and each player can have their own Titan. “There are lots of AI, everyone can have a Titan in follow or guard mode too.” These AI refer to the NPC you can fight for added points, as announced previously by Respawn.

This led to criticism of Titanfall being suited for competitive player purposes but not for the teeming masses (who would be enjoying Battlefield 4’s 64 person multiplayer cap if they weren’t being booted back to the beginning menu or unable to find matches due to the multitude of bugs). Zampella stated that, “It is incredibly fun, we did a lot if testing. It is all about what we found most fun.”

We’re not that far off from Titanfall’s release on March 11th in North America and March 14th in the UK for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Will it be a wise decision or an ultimately limiting factor for players? We’ll find out on launch day.
