Titanfall “Not Gunning for Call of Duty” – Respawn Entertainment

"We're going for something different" says Vince Zampella.

Honestly, after E3 2013, it would seem that Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall has to compete more with Bungie’s Destiny in terms of big-budget experiences (both games emphasizing multiplayer as well). However, given co-founder Vince Zampella’s history with Infinity Ward – founding the studio alongside Jason West before being unceremoniously fired – one would think that somewhere, he knows he’s working to live up to his past legacy.

That may be the case in personal terms, but Titanfall is otherwise not competing with Infinity Ward’s next title Call of Duty: Ghosts. As Zampella stated to GamesIndustry International, “Honestly, we’re not shipping the same time as them.”

“We’re going for something different. We’re not gunning for Call of Duty. We’re doing our thing. The important thing is to make sure what we’re doing is fun. I’m OK with Call of Duty being big. I helped create it, so I’m proud to see it’s something so big that it goes beyond me.”

Titanfall is set to release in 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
