Yesterday, Echtra Games revealed that Torchlight Frontiers had been renamed to Torchlight 3. Along with ditching the free to play model and removing the in-game store, the action RPG would have its progression systems revamped. It’s also coming to Steam this Summer with console releases to follow after.
For those who involved in the closed alpha (with the beta coming up soon), update 10 will be released tomorrow at 10 AM PT. This will reshape the game into linear acts, introduce a fourth class, new content and features, and more. The developer also confirmed that there would be content updates coming post-launch.
It’s worth noting that character progress will be wiped with update 10’s release. There will be another progress wipe before launch in order “streamline our development and testing methodologies”. However, any collectibles unlocked during the alpha will still be available for players. If you’ve played on the alpha via the Arc website, you should receive a Steam key for testing.
Torchlight 3 is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
