Total War: Three Kingdoms is Now Steam’s Biggest Launch of 2019

The strategy title unseats previous record holder, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The Creative Assembly’s Total War: Three Kingdoms, the latest in the developer’s vaunted franchise, has achieved a new milestone on Steam. Its peak concurrent player count on the weekend hit 191,816 users, significantly higher than when it launched. In doing so, it’s become the biggest launch on Steam for 2019.

That honour originally belonged to FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which had a peak concurrent player count of 124,334 players. Not bad, considering the hype that the FromSoftware title commanded at launch. A quick look at the current top-selling games on Steam also shows Total War: Three Kingdoms on top.

Check out GamingBolt’s official review for the game here. Though the title has launched, The Creative Assembly is preparing to add more content. This will be in the form of Chapter Packs, which take place at different points throughout the Three Kingdoms period. Other features like mod tools are also in the works, so stay tuned for more updates.
