The Xbox Games Showcase earlier this month was packed full of a number of major reveals and updates, and the first party front in particular saw games like Fable, Avowed, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Starfield showing up, among many others. Of course, while most of the headline-grabbing showings were for the larger titles, there were a few relatively smaller games that caught the eye as well- like Towerborne, made by The Banner Saga developer Stoic Studio.
Promising a gorgeous aesthetic in a 2.5D sidescrolling with co-op action, Towerborne is looking like an intriguing prospect, and those who want to get their hands on the game to see how it’s shaping up will have the opportunity to do so in the coming months.
Playtests via the Insider Program are slated for later this year, with sign ups open now, and according to Xbox, those who are enrolled will get access to preview builds and exclusive updates, in addition to being able to help Stoic shape the experience through their feedback.
How many playtests the developer plans to hold and what their scope will be remains to be seen, but given the ongoing, live service-centric approach that Stoic Studio and Microsoft have planned for Towerborne, it’s not surprising to see them wanting to get the community involved at the earliest.
Towerborne is set to launch sometime in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
