We reported earlier about the recent behind-the-scenes video showcasing Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince’s developers’ hopes to return to form after what is seen as a general misstep in the previous title, Trine 3. Now, some on the team have put out some new details about various aspects of the game, and how they hope to achieve that, talking about everything from the game’s length to its difficulty settings.
In a AMA on publisher Modus Games’ Discord, five team members from the game’s development team answered various questions. In regards to length, they said it would rival Trine 2 and its 6 DLC post-release levels with roughly 8-12 hours depending on the player. As of now there’s no plans to release the game with a Hardcore mode, such as what was added in the original title, but they did mention they plan to continue supporting the title post-release, so it and other missing features (such as ultrawide support on PC, as well as Editor and Workshop mode) could come later. Finally, the team calmed worries some had about the PC version being an Epic Games Store exclusive, saying the game would release on Steam and possibly GOG as well.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is slated to release later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
