Ubisoft Blames AMD For Assassin’s Creed Unity PC Performance

"A very very bad port," indeed.

Ubisoft’s latest forray into the world of Assassin’s Creed has been an uncomfortable affair for the developer-publisher that has seemingly been constantly under fire in recent time for shoddy ports and sub par “finished” products which fail to meet consumer expectations.

Ubisoft PR Managers are blaming AMD GPU and CPU setups for the poor condition of the port which, whilst understandable from a technical stand point, does nothing to lift the fault from their shoulders. It is, afterall, the job of the developer to optimize a game before launch.

The official line from the PR team reads, “We are aware that the graphics performance of Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC may be adversely affected by certain AMD CPU and GPU configurations. This should not affect the vast majority of PC players, but rest assured that AMD and Ubisoft are continuing to work together closely to resolve the issue, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.”

On the other end of the spectrum, wccfTech reached out independently and found that the problem lies in bottlenecking that sees come draw calls relating to textures and npc’s being “culled”. One Email finishes by saying ,” Simply put, its a very very bad port for the PC Platform and an unoptimized (some would even go as far as saying, unfinished) title on the consoles.” A sentiment shared by gamers and critics alike.
