Ubisoft Launches New Measures Against Toxic Rainbow Six Siege Players

Being mouthy online can have consequences in Rainbow Six Siege

An unfortunate truth of online gaming is that anyone with a microphone can talk anything they want, but increasingly developers are taking a stand against needless mic rage and abhorrent trash talk. Rainbow Six Siege as one example, will introduce improvements to its ban system which should pull the abusers away from their core audience.

Before, the system would focus in specifically on racial slurs, but now announced on Reddit by Ubisoft community developer, Craid Robinson, the new system will help the team track the frequency of naughty, Code-of-Conduct breaking language from a bad actor and allow the team to react appropriately. The Code of Conduct would apply to anything that can reasonably be called “Illegal, dangerous, threatening, obscene, abusive, vulgar, defamatory, racist, sexist, hateful, ethically offensive or harassment.”

Trip the system, and Ubisoft can issue a ban anywhere from 2 days to permanently, based on how obscene the offence or how often action has been necessary. Like when someone is banned for cheating, a global message will also go out to shame the naughty player, so be sure to play nice.
