With the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Scorpio now being real, iterative consoles and platforms are an unavoidable fact of he gaming industry. This means that it doesn’t matter if you’re not personally on board with them- they exist, and if you work with games, you need to deal with that.
Ubisoft, however, is rather excited at the prospect of these new systems, and all that they can offer. Like EA, they feel that these platforms shall be good for video games, and for the video game industry. Speaking to We Write Things, Ubisoft’s Nouredine Abboud, working on Ghost Recon: Wildlands currently, expressed his enthusiasm for the two new systems.
“We are game developers: the more platforms there are for gamers, the happier we are. Especially when the platforms get better and better! That said, new hardware gives us the tools to further innovate in our games. This includes the possibility of pushing our game’s graphics to new levels, which creates even more immersive experiences for players,” Abboud said.
I am sure most developers definitely appreciate the additional resources afforded to them by the extra power in the Scorpio and Pro, definitely. Hopefully more developers learn to meaningfully leverage these new systems, going forward.
