When Unravel hits EA Access it appears as if the game will have an extremely limited trial for members. EA has confirmed only the first two levels of the game will be available when it goes live next month. There is a bit of good news in that the game is going to on offer for as many as 10 hours. That means you’ll be able to play those first two levels over and over again until the trail period runs out.
As is the case with other EA games that have gone through the EA Access service, Unravel’s trial period will start five days ahead of it’s official launch day. That means those who have signed up for the service will get to try it out on February 4. As is usually the case, those who decide they like the first two levels enough to buy the game will be able to carry their progress forward when the game launches five days later.
This practice is a bit of a change, as most games that are offered on EA Access give full access to the titles for a period of time. One has to wonder if that doesn’t bode well for the length of time the game will take to complete. Is it possible the developers believe you’ll be able to actually finish Unravel in 10 hours and then never have to purchase it? There doesn’t appear to be an official explanation but that seems to be the most likely. We’ll have to wait and see when Unravel launches on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 9.
