Valve Looks To Hire Psychologist For Game And Storefront Development

A new job listing points to an experimental new position.

Going on two decades now, Valve with its Steam platform has become a sort of pseudo-platform holder on the PC side of things. The storefront has grown at an incredible rate, though unfortunately that has also resulted in far less games from them. Half-Life: Alyx was the first major traditional game release from them in several years. However, it does seem as if the company wants to continue to experiment, as seen by an opening for a new position at the company.

A new job listing popped up from Valve, looking to hire a psychologist. It’s not exactly the kind of listing you’d expect to find from a video game company, though consulting psychologists and sociologists for games isn’t an unheard of proposition. The position is described as wanting to help craft new gaming experiences and technologies, and does require a graduate degree in psychology or a related field. You can see the full listing through here.

As of now, we don’t know what Valve is working on, game-wise. With the launch of Alyx, the general speculation is that it would lead into a full blown third Half-Life, but with constantly maintaining Steam, the company kind of does whatever they want.
