Valve Might be Bringing More Games to Consoles Soon

Valve boss Gabe Newell says we will "get a better idea of that by the end of this year."

Valve returned to development of full-fledged games last year with the incredible Half-Life: Alyx, and promised that that was not going to be a one-off. We’re likely to see more games from the company in similar vein, and hopefully in the not-so-distant future, but while it’s a given that they will be releasing for PC and Steam, what about consoles? Can we expect Valve games to release for PlayStation and Xbox?

As spotted over on Reddit, Valve boss Gabe Newell was recently posed this question (during a school assembly, weirdly enough). When asked “Will Steam be putting any games on consoles, or will it just stay on PC?” Newell’s response was:

“You will get a better idea of that by the end of this year.”

So, a lot to unpack here. For starters, props to Newell for dropping a tease for something like this in the a school assembly. On top of that, there’s the question of what exactly the question is referring to- Steam is mentioned, but it’s quite likely that they just meant Valve, since Steam is a platform. Finally, Newell’s response seems to indicate that we might be hearing something about Valve releasing games for consoles in the months ahead- but then again, you never know with them.

Either way, stay tuend, and we’ll keep you updated on any new details that come our way.
