After years and years of fans waiting for it to happen, Bayonetta launched on PC earlier this year at long last- and it was a glorious port, optimized for the platform, and coming with a lot of extras at a cheap price to make up for the long wait. That port, along with the excellent PC port for NieR Automata, has given PC players a thirst for, and confidence in, PC ports for Platinum games.
And it looks like another one of those may be inbound soon- earlier today, the PC version of Bayonetta got updated. The update changed absolutely nothing, unless you dug around in the Extras menu, where you found… a 22kb file, which was an icon from Vanquish, Platinum’s cult hit third person shooter, and Shinji Mikami’s last game with the studio.
If this teasing is hinting at something – and Platinum has stated its intention to bring its games to PC before – then we may be looking at a Vanquish port for PC far sooner than we expected. And honestly, given just how well suited to PC Vanquish seems, I hope to goodness this teasing amounts to something, and soon.
