Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a big success for Saber Interactive, with over two million players. It’s the biggest Warhammer game launch on Steam in peak concurrent players, but it’s also the second biggest new release of the year in Europe. While the team is sticking to its roadmap, it is motivated to “dream bigger.”
Speaking to IGN, CCO Tim Willits revealed that some adjustments have been made to its outlook, opening the door for DLC. There are even some ideas for a sequel. “Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko has proposed some story ideas that could be DLC or a sequel. We’re literally just catching our breath. This is two weeks out.
“We just need to get the dust to settle. But I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. It’s too big of a success! I know that’s an obvious thing to say, but hopefully, we’ll be working on Space Marine content for a long time.”
So, while it may be a while before a sequel happens, Willits is excited to work with Focus Entertainment and Games Workshop again. “We just have to figure it out. I would love to do it, yes. Yes, yes, yes! There are so many different factions… there are other chapters, too, that are interesting…”
