Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Features Offline Mode for Campaign, No Pre-Downloads or Couch Co-op

PvE is also playable offline, though progression is unavailable. PC requirements will also be revealed in "the next couple of weeks."

Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, hyped by the developer to be this year’s best action game, is still several weeks away from launch. A new Steam Community post reaffirmed its gold status while confirming it’s still polishing the title before launch.

In the meantime, it’s compiled a brief FAQ to address several lingering questions. Those who haven’t played the first game can still enjoy the sequel since it’s “a fresh story that can be understood as its own.” There are some returning characters for long-time fans, though.

Space Marine 2 will be available for GeForce Now on launch; unfortunately, there won’t be any pre-download option. Co-op is also online-only with no couch co-op support. While the campaign has an offline mode, players won’t have access to progression in PvE (likely referring to Operations mode) if disconnected from the servers. The latter is still playable, though.

The developer also said the campaign lasts 10-12 hours, though it can vary based on the selected difficulty. Finally, PC players can expect details within “the next couple of weeks” on the minimum and recommended system requirements.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches on September 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out the latest trailer showcasing the Plasma Incinerator and various combat tactics.
