As the PS5 and the Xbox Series X draw closer to release, it goes without saying that most third party developers and publishers will be looking to get their games out on those consoles- as cross-gen releases, if nothing else. One of the first third parties to jump on that train was Ubisoft, who delayed multiple of their upcoming AAA releases last year, and announced that they would all be coming to next-gen platforms as well.
One such game was Watch Dogs: Legion, and while Ubisoft haven’t yet announced new set release date for the title, a new report suggests that the game is being planned as a Holiday release. According to VGC, Ubisoft is planning on debuting Watch Dogs: Legion alongside the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, both of which are currently primed for a release this Holiday season. Considering that the open world title is one of Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming releases, it makes sense that they will want to be there for the next-gen consoles’ launches.
It’s worth noting, though, that Watch Dogs: Legion – or any of Ubisoft’s other upcoming AAA releases – doesn’t yet have a release date set in stone, and with how uncertain things are right now due to the pandemic, things ca very likely change very quickly. Just recently, in fact, Ubisoft suggested that they would be open to delaying their games should the releases of next-gen consoles also get delayed.,
