Watch Dogs Legion is looking to be one of the most ambitious games to date. Its apparent ability to let you recruit any NPC could be something incredible if the developer actually sticks the landing, so to speak. In the vein of that idea, it’s also been announced that the game will feature crowdsourced music thorough HitRecord.
HitRecord will be seeking songs in the genres of hip hop, rock, electronic, metal, and punk, specifically about London. This will be a collaborative effort, where many different people will work on a single song. For instance, someone may do the lyrics for a song, while someone contributes the bass, and someone else the drums, and so on and so forth. It’s probably worth mentioning that the move did elicit some criticism, with some feeling that it was an exploitative way for Ubisoft to get cheap music from eager fans while bypassing professionals. Ubisoft responded to that by saying that they are still working with professionals to craft the overall soundtrack of 140 songs, and that the participation in the contest is voluntary.
