Xbox 360 Games Could One Day Run On PC, Phil Spencer Suggests

'Never say never.'

As of right now, Microsoft is bringing all of its own first party Xbox One games to Windows 10 PCs, while also making it easy for third parties to do so via the UWP and Xbox Play Anywhere initiatives. However, what about Xbox 360 games? While those have been made playable on Xbox One consoles, is there any chance for them to eventually come to PCs, too?

Speaking to a fan on Twitter, Xbox head Phil Spencer said that achieving that would be a pain in the neck, but that it is not something that Microsoft is willing to rule out entirely. “Running BC reliably on all the different PC HW configs would be a lot more work than XB1, but never say never,” he said.

Personally, most great Xbox 360 games were ported to PC, either at the time, or afterwards, via remastered releases. There are some gems that were not- PC players would love to play Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Bayonetta, or Halo 3, I am sure- so this would still be worthwhile if it ever came to pass. But I can see why it is not a pressing need for Microsoft at the moment.
