Xbox Makes Another Small But Significant Change With Revamped Start-Up Animation

A new startup animation hits your Xbox next week, and it's the latest in Microsoft's efforts to bring back the brand's former glory.

It’s been a slightly demotivating week for Microsoft’s gaming division, but Xbox seems to be taking things in its stride, looking forward while being mindful of past mistakes.

The latter might include its newly introduced distance from Copilot, while the former is evidenced quite conclusively by the shake-up in Xbox’s upper ranks. Also included in the “moving forward” category is a new startup animation that CEO Asha Sharma just shared with us.

We think it’s great – familiar enough to retain the Xbox’s iconic sound, albeit spruced up a little, while the logo is bright green again. It’s almost like Microsoft is trying to will the console’s glory days back into existence.

It’s going to be part of a firmware update coming May 13th, but the new logo’s already around for those of you who can’t wait to jump on the new and improved branding. Considering that it’s the first thing you see when you power on your console, it’s a great way to spread word of Xbox’s next chapter.

Now all that’s left is to learn more about Project Helix in the next Xbox Game Dev Update, which is right around the corner as we speak. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
