Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Explained in New Video

Find out everything you need to know en route to the update on November 12th.

Backwards compatibility is nearly here for the Xbox One, allowing Xbox 360 games to be played on the current gen console at no extra charge (save for the costs of the games themselves). To facilitate those interested in playing their previous gen titles, a new video with Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb and FLitz from Smosh Games has been released.

It’s actually quite easy – if you have a physical disc of the Xbox 360 title, it can be inserted into the Xbox One, thus prompting a digital download of the game (the physical disc is still necessary for playing though). Saves from the Xbox 360 will carry forward if you backed them up on the cloud and even DLC for the title will be supported. The New Xbox One Experience will feature a dedicated tab for your backwards compatible games so you’ll never be lost looking for them.

Microsoft is set to reveal the first 100 Xbox 360 titles that will support backwards compatibility on November 9th. The New Xbox One Experience – which brings a bevy of other awesome new features like a faster interface – will be out on November 12th.
