Xbox One on Kinect Still Used by “Vast Majority” of Owners

More for biometric sign-in and user interface and less for games though.

Microsoft has been busy taking a different stance on Kinect since the introduction of the Xbox One – it’s no longer bundled along with the console, much of the functionality is not geared towards and there’s a conscious effort to provide more traditional, controller-based games.

However, this doesn’t mean that those who own Kinect don’t use it. As Xbox chief marketing officer Mike Nichols explained to Polygon, the “vast majority” use it on a regular basis. “Overall, we don’t break down how many console users have Kinect and how many don’t. That’s a level of granularity we don’t want to get into.

“I can say that the people with Kinect still make up a very, very sizable portion and that those people do use it quiet frequently. Less for games, but a lot more for biometric sign-in and user interface.”

No actual numbers were provided for the same but it would be interesting to note, given the low number of upcoming Kinect games and Microsoft’s approach to the same.
