Despite the horrible fortunes of the Xbox 360 over the past several years, Microsoft pushed ahead with plans to launch the Xbox One in Japan. The results are in though and they’re not pretty – since launching, the Xbox One managed to sell 24,000 units within two days with Titanfall being the top-selling game at 22,416 units units (and this is due to it being bundled with the console).
Kinect Sports was the second highest selling game at 14,919 units while Dead Rising 3 managed to sell 7,330 units. News broke out earlier this week that not a single Xbox One title had entered into the top 20 highest selling titles in Japan.
As pointed out by Eurogamer, the Xbox 360 managed to sell more than 60,000 units within two days when it launched. The PS4, which many have considered to be stagnant in Japan, still managed to sell 322,000 units within two days.
Early signs of calamity for the Xbox One in Japan? We’ll find out in the coming weeks.
