Xbox One’s Startup Takes Just 15 Seconds

Xbox One's start up on display

Microsoft have posted a video in which they show off the start-up speed for the upcoming Xbox One; when it’s being activated via the console’s Kinect voice command.

In the video, Microsoft’s own Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb helps us visualize the process by turning the console on and offering the timing it takes for the system to transition from — by voice command — turning on; along with the television, identify him via facial recognition, and then based on that, log him in.

All in all the process took around fifteen seconds, which, given the relatively slow startup speeds of the vast majority of previous consoles, will be a refreshing welcome. It’s got to feel good for Microsoft to – this close to the definitive battle in the upcoming console war – finally be the one pumping out news that’s, at the bare minimum, neutral, and on the whole, generally positive, while Sony’s PS4 suffers from slightly-better-than-mediocre reviews and developmental delays in they already sparse launch catalogue.
