We already know that Microsoft is at work on the next generation Xbox console, and that it is codenamed Scarlett, but we don’t know quite much more about it. However, a new report by Brad Sams, of Thurott.com, and with an established history of breaking the news on several things Microsoft and Xbox before they happened, the new console is going to be a pretty interesting bit of hardware for the console space.
The console is apparently aimed at a 2020 launch, and will include Zen 2, as well as AMD’s next generation GPU technology (based on what reports we have about what the PS5 may be like, it sounds as though the hardware and launch dates for both consoles may be close again this time around).
The console will have backward compatibility, which sounds in line with the agenda at Microsoft and Xbox these days, and will apparently have an emphasis on digital game delivery—also par for the course.
You can check out this report for yourself below. Right now, this is unsubstantiated, so don’t go treating it as fact or anything, but early indications sound good.
