Xbox Series X/S Outsold PS5 in Europe in February Due to Persisting Stock Shortages

Supply shortages continue to affect both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, while the Nintendo Switch still managed to outsell both.

The current generation of consoles is well and truly off the ground, and even though the PS4 and Xbox One are continuing to chug along, it’s also been made necessary by the significant supply issues that have hampered the sales of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The same has reflected in console sales in Europe, according to latest GSD sales data for the month of February (via GamesIndustry).

The report notes that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S continue to struggle with meeting demand. As a result, more Xbox Series consoles were sold across Europe compared to PlayStation 5, with the relatively better availability of the Xbox Series S playing a key role in the same.

Despite that, total hardware sales are 32% down over January, and down to 44% when compared with the data from February last year.

The Nintendo Switch comfortably placed itself at the top of the throne, by taking the No. 1 spot for hardware in the region (though the data does not include the UK and Germany). That said, Switch sales are down to 14% compared to the same month in 2021, but at the same time, they’re up 52% compared to February 2020.
