Xbox Series X Will See Simultaneous Holiday Launch In Japan, Microsoft Confirms

Unlike its predecessor, there will be no delay for the Series X in Japan.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, many have been worried about the upcoming releases of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, from whether they will be launching on time to, if they do, whether they’ll see a full-fledged global simultaneous launch. Even without the pandemic though, these fears have been pertinent with the Xbox Series X, especially seeing as the Xbox One saw a delayed launch in Japan.

Microsoft, however, have given many assurances that that will not be the case for their upcoming console, and they have done so once again. In a statement to Famitsu, the company confirmed that the Xbox Series X will launch in Japan in Holiday 2020, alongside its release in Western markets.

They also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bright Memory: Infinite, Scarlet Nexus, and Halo: Infinite will all also be available on the console in Japan at launch. Curiously, one game that hasn’t been confirmed for a local Japanese release on the system so far is Yakuza: Like Dragon.

Both Sony and Microsoft have previously given assurances that their next-gen consoles will be releasing around the globe simultaneously, and both are still on track to release this Holiday.
