Xbox Services Seeing Record Usage Due To Social Distancing And Self-Isolation

Services like Live, Game Pass, and Mixer are seeing massive use during the crisis.

We’re currently living through something that almost no one reading this has ever lived through before. The pandemic of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has shut down a lot of industries, even some countries, and there still doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel anytime soon for a lot of places. It’s had the unfortunate consequence of putting a lot of people out of work, or having to work remote from home. It’s been a shame, but at the very least, there is no shortage of entertainment, and boy, are a lot of people playing games right now.

Microsoft has reported that a record number of people are using their services. That includes Xbox Live, Game Pass and Mixer. All and all they’ve seen a staggering 775% increase in demand for their cloud services. Because of that, they say they’ll have to disable some things to make sure said service is smooth, things like uploading custom gamer pics, club pic, and club backgrounds. Valve has reported similar spike on their Steam platform as well as Sony with PSN. While it’s little solace for these troubling times, at least there’s a lot of games to play.
